BIO:
Carmen Salvador is a young independent songwriter who mixes native and folkloric south american music with modern sounds and instrumentation. The rhythm and vocals of the songs take us immediately to the far Chilean land, from the north with the typical “nortinos” of the high Andes mountain cultures, to the more rural “cueca” which is Chile´s most recognizable music style, and some other influences like Uruguay´s “candombe” . However, Carmen is not the usual folkloric musician. The sound and feel of her music is completely modern because of its instrumentation and harmony, and because she uses the pop song structure in most of her compositions. “Brotes (Sprouts)” is the name of her first solo album, entirely composed, written and arranged by Carmen, who does vocals and interprets piano and guitar. Carmen Salvador has performed in Chile, Argentina and New Zealand, and is currently planning her Australian Spring Tour. In New Zealand she has performed 12 concerts including: -The Harbour Light, Lyttelton -Bay of Islands Arts Festival, Kerikeri -Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival, Hamilton -Art in the Park, Greymouth -The Mussel Inn, Onekaka -MarchFEst, Nelson -The Boathouse, Nelson -and others.RECOMMENDED VENUES
